Non-technical Items used In the Carpentry Classroom
The items that I would use for teaching in the carpentry class is the whiteboard for showing the students math, or drawing. I would take the students to a field trip to the work site to see the beginning stages of a house being built. The students will use pencils and paper to draw their project plan. There will be a project on display in the classroom that the students are to build that day. There will be a framed house that is in a small sized scale for the students to see how it would look from the exterior. Printed materials will be on the walls to show how aomething is built, or terms in carpentry. Handouts can be given to the students to do a unit.

Digital Nation
Everywhere you go the kids are on the cell phone texting, on the computer, always checking their e-mail, going on facebook, or googling each other. They are completely consumed in the new technology. The young people think that they can do multi-tasking, meaning they can do two or three things at the same time. A study shown that they are not capable to do this, in fact they are slow and are disorganized. This is affecting their brain when they are on the Internet because there is a lot of brain activity going on compared to a person reading. So why is it that we allow the students go the computer then if this is the case?
Another thing, whats with the Virtual Worlds? Don't you think that everyone will get so lazy to go to work? The people will end up staying at home 24-7. I don't think I like that at all. It will be a ghost town. And the military recruiting the youth...by having them play these simulators. If the youth knows how to play on the simulator does that mean that he or she is a pro in war? That is just crazy. You need the cell phone, and the computer. I think the technology will get more complex as we get older.

Digital Natives and Digital Immigrants
Digital Immigrants
My view on this is pretty well where I am at the moment. I never knew how to use a cell phone till I was in my mid 30's. To use the computer is very challenging for me, but with practice I know that I can master this in no time. I watch my younger neice use the X-box, digital cameras, ipod, iphone and I just look at her in disbelief. She tried to teach me this one day and I was so frustrated. I am still trying to learn from my sister when she gives me the opportunity to try her iphone or blackberry. I was taught from a technology immigrant.
Digital Natives
My view on this is that I hope to become a wiz at one if not all of these electronics. I am pretty sure by the time I finally figure these out that there will be another item that is more efficient. As a carpenter it would be nice to learn all of these before I teach the students. This one day I was shocked that people can do on line banking. I tried that not too long ago and I was amazed. Now that's what you call a digital native. How funny is that?
- Digital immigrants are people who didn't have technology back in the early years.
- The technology immigrants are now learning about the technologies.
- They were not taught with technology.
- They recognize the importance of the technology and show interest of learning this and will help teach the subject matter to their students.

Digital Natives
- People are into Blackberry, Ipods, Iphones, computers.
- They can get ahold of each other in no time flat.
- These days they can reach people from afar or make appointments just like that.
- People who know how to master in todays technology
